Prior to joining UWM/SOIS, I taught part-time for 15 years at BYU. Below is a list of courses I taught:

Undergraduate

      1. Summary of quantitative evaluations

      2. Innovations in courses taught UWM/SOIS (2002 – 2006)

I used a Content Management Framework to provide a paperless environment for students to hand in papers, to collaborate, and to stay informed of all course requirements. The same system is used to develop the Faculty Intranet.

I introduced Service Learning to 430 (Multimedia Product Development). This has meant some extra work and time spent with nonprofits in the community to ensure the success of this program. The results have been very satisfying. Numerous multimedia products (including websites, movies, presentations, and instructional software) have been developed for the following institutions: St. Anne Center, SER-Jobs for Progress, The Dominican Center, YMCA, the Indo-Chinese Center, Journey House, and Enrichment Opportunities.

I served on the implementation team for Xythos, rebranded as Pantherfile at UWM. This environment gives every member of the UWM community online storage, as well as Web space. My students used the environment to store and present their assignments, as well as the location to do Web development.

Camtasia was used to develop video demonstrations and live presentations and then to stream these on the Web. Audacity was used to do audio streams. New approaches were developed to enhance audio lectures online.

I initiated the development of Podcasting in our school. I enrolled our DE support staff person in a seminar with Apple to master the technical skills. My first podcasts were developed during the summer of 2006.

      1. Student supervision

UWM/SOIS (2002 – 2006)

I supervised undergraduate Internships for the following semesters: Spring (5 students), Summer (3 students) and Fall (4 students). Graduate advising was done during the Fall 2003 semester.

      1. Teaching awards

Won the LydiaLearn Learning Object Competition at the Merlot International Conference (July 25 – 28, 2005) in Nashville, TN

    1. Program Development & Update

BA in Global Studies: Communications – I am collaborating with the Center for International Education to integrate SOIS courses into this track.

Study Abroad: South Africa. In collaboration with the Study Abroad Office Dr. J.J. Britz and I co-hosted the first Study Abroad group to South Africa for the Winterim 2005.

Professional Development Courses. I attended 2 CIPD workshops. One was a 2-day workshop and the other was a one day activity on developing critical thinking. During the Summer 2005, I attended the 3-day Faculty College, sponsored by UW-System.

Digital Archiving Explorations – I visited with the digital archiving programs at the University of Utah, Brigham Young University, Ancestry.com and IArchives to understand the current methods used in the field to archive and digitize content.

SOIS-College of Health Sciences Collaboration. On the SOIS team to work out collaboration between Health Sciences and Information Studies. 2006
