The Internet will be Redesigned in the Future
Although the Internet in the form of the World Wide Web is over a decade old, this global virtual environment, reaching millions of homes, will see updated and newer protocols take over. It is myopic to think nothing can change, or it is too late. There is always a new generation with a different vision and better technology. Helping shape the designs of the future internet protocol to integrate the metatagging concept is a vital step to make.

So, what's the problem?
All information is not equal. Would it be fine if the details to make an atom bomb are posted? What about hardcore pornography available to child and adult alike? ...a whole new world has come into existence. This new reality compells us to carefully consider the consequences of a trend of any information should be available to any person, regardless of age.

At the heart of this initiative is this concern with the access little children have to pornography, vulgarity, hate, etc. These offensive materials are a permanent part of the Internet. It is quite safe to say that freedom of expression on the Internet is something we all cherish, and dread in the same breath.

There is no single measure that will remove the threat of this problem. Many are actively involved in seeking ways to protect the young. Maybe the most important weapon is the loving instruction provided by parents. Despite the best attempts of some parents, we know children are curious, and they are not very capable of judging the consequences and impact of their indulgence in salacious content on the Web.

Several governments have tried to legally address this concern of minors having access to harmful material on the Internet, but it proves to be a tough problem. In many cases issues concerning freedom of speech have overturned or blocked legislative attempts.

The reason why we are optimistic about this initiative is that it does not suggest or imply any restriction on freedom of speech--the very issue which has been the fatal weakness of previous legislative attempts.

Please read the proposal on the SOLUTIONS page.

It has to be emphasized--this problem has no pancea. Hopefully the collective result of the many efforts will provide reasonable protection for the upcoming generation. With the Internet still in its infancy, this initiative is a pioneering effort to protect the moral fibre of our future generations.
